NR Contemporary *

                                                                Contemporary

I love contemporary, I love reading books that have been acclaimed, but it seems to me that the best contemporary's are the ones that no one can spoil, those new releases that you devour, page turning, pulse racing, tear jerking books that make you feel like more of a human being. So here are a list of DARK CONTEMPORARIES that I am looking forward to browsing the YA section of Barnes and Noble's. . . Let's get it on.

  • The Truth About Alice - Jennifer Mathieu
           Pages - 208
           Publisher - Roaring Book Press
           Release Date - 6.3.14

               GoodReads

This book seems like the type of book I would love to read, me being a feminist ( And proud ) I love books that deal with the concept of Slut-Shaming, and though I know this book has so much more going on, I love how real it is, how this girl, Alice, is known as a freak, an out cast, a whore, a slut, the epitome of everything bad you can be as a teenage girl, all for her sleeping with two separate guys (Or so they say) I love alternating points of views, well, in contemporary, and I also love mysteries, this book is giving off the same vibe as Love Letters To The Dead, and that book is my favorite book of all time. . . can't wait to read.

  • My Last Kiss - Bethany Neal
          Pages - 358
          Publisher - Straus & Giroux
          Release Date - 6.10.14

             goodreads

What can I say, I'm a sucker for star crossed love stories. And through this, we can most certainly tell that no one will receive their happily ever after, and I also am a sucker for books that leave me less than whole. They just speak to the minority inside of me, so that I root along side the team I know will lose. . . Call me a rebel.

Excited to also find this novel. and read it.

  • Inland - Kat Rosenfield
          Pages - 388
          Publisher - Dutton Juvenile
          Release - 6.12.14

          Goodreads

This I have mixed feelings about, this novel has pretty poor reviews, and I feel like this is a gamble, you can call me Captain Thorne (Cress Reference) I have yet to view any reviews though, because that defeats the purpose of this list. Anyway, the cover is to die for. . .

I hope this list has given you something to review on your own.
