Review:
Firstly, I'd like to start by saying I HATED the main character (Belly) but I also, simultaneously loved her. I hated the fact that she was just so whiny, and how she's so horrid with her emotions. But I guess that's all apart of the Belly charm, right? But, as stated earlier, I also loved how real her character was, how it represented the struggle many women (And men) have with body image, and how Jenny goes about representing the change through flash backs, giving us a way to place the Belly then and the Belly now, giving us a stance on how the boys treat her.
Secondly, what people don't tend to understand is that this book revolves around a love triangle, and character growth. There are some subplots, but those also revolve around character growth, so to those people who just don't seem to get that, here you go.
This is a nice, contemporary, light read. It's perfect for lazy summer days suntanning on the beach, since, you know, this book is set in a beach town.
*On a last note, I'd like for you to know that this book is super realistic, I know Belly can get a little annoying, but Beck, oh my god, Beck . . . The relationship she has with Laurel is absolutely amazing. Makes me wish I had a relationship as tangible, and durable as that. But alas, I am just a girl, who is doomed in the ever baking heat of Texas.
TOOTS :)
X Ramo.
